The Catalan Social Council for Culture is an advisory body of public participation and Government assessment on cultural matters comprising 52 members with economic, social and associative backgrounds.

The Council works so that the different social and economic sectors participate more intensely in the analysis and roll-out of cultural activities and monitors the sector and the public policies promoted by the Government.

The Council’s goal is to provide culture with more centrality and emphasise its role in shaping a more prosperous, empowered society with greater individual and collective opportunities for progress.

Some of the Council’s functions include enhancing access to cultural goods and services, ensure the social and community impact of cultural production, encourage synergies with other political or public policies, emphasise culture’s economic, educational and social value and enforce gender equality in everything related with artistic production and distribution.
