L’actual legislació prohibeix la destrucció dels BCIL, obliga als propietaris, posseïdors o titulars a la seva cura i manteniment, i poca cosa més. Deixa tota la càrrega de la gestió de protecció als municipis, sense facilitar unes mínimes pautes. Cal reforçar la nova llei en aquest sentit, introduint un seguit de pautes que refermin la protecció dels béns catalogats i el seu entorn.
