La decisió de conservar un jaciment cal prendre-la tenint en compte la seva totalitat. Sobretot en entorns urbans, no és estrany que un mateix jaciment ocupi més d’una parcel·la, arribant fins i tot a rebre denominacions diferents en cadascuna d’elles. No es pot decidir sobre la seva preservació, sense prendre en consideració la seva totalitat.
