L’actual inventari és de difusió. Proposem crear un inventari propi del patrimoni paleontològic que inclogui només les peces i afloraments que hagin de ser considerats singulars. Un exemple és l'inventari anglès de llocs considerats d'interès científic especial (Sites of Special Scientific Interest o SSSI). Aquest inventari es diferenciaria de qualsevol altre inventari que no tingui la mateixa categoria de protecció.
